Romero and Park suffer setbacks
Phillies relief pitcher J.C. Romero will seek a second opinion on his strained forearm, the team announced after Thursday’s 5-3 loss to Houston at Citizens Bank Park, with the outlook not so good that Romero will pitch again this season.
Romero did not speak to reporters. A team spokesman said Romero “still has some symptoms in his forearm” and will see Dr. David Altchek in New York “in the coming days.”
In his postgame comments, manager Charlie Manuel said that “it’s going to be hard for Romero to go out and compete. We don’t think he’s well yet.”
Romero gave up two hits and no runs Monday in his first appearance since July 19.
